MSE-118
- Large format low frequency loudspeaker
Description
Quake is a powerful horn-loaded subwoofer, designed for a variety
of uses ranging from large-scale live FOH and sidefills through theatre,
corporate and A/V work to the world's most demanding nightclub environments.
Why
choose Quake?
Quake was designed to be the ultimate touring subwoofer - a no-compromise
approach matching the utmost in drive unit performance, with tireless
research into the development of horn technology. The result is
truly awesome - a product which is one of the finest subwoofers
on the market today. The flexibility of the enclosure allows Quake
to be used in any application requiring powerful, effortless low
frequency reproduction - and with any type of mid/high enclosure.
Superior
by design
Quake's substantial enclosure houses a single proprietary 18"
(457mm) drive unit with a 5" (127mm) voice coil. This drive
unit is built around an 11" ceramic magnet and dual-suspension
system. This allows the drive unit to remain in pure-piston motion
even at extreme power levels, meaning Quake provides precise and
clear subbass information. The drive unit is loaded onto a horn
approaching 9' (2743mm) in length, making it one of the longest
horns commercially available for an 18" driver. Quake can therefore
reproduce information with the superior transient response of a
horn but with effortless depth - even when used as a single unit.
Construction
The rugged enclosure is constructed from CNC-machined 18mm (3/4")
multi-laminate Finnish birch plywood, rebated, screwed and glued
together for maximum strength. The enclosure is finished in black
semi-matt textured paint, however other colours are available on
request. An expanded steel mesh grille coated with acoustically
transparent black foam protects Quake from moisture and debris incursion.
Standard
features and rigging
Standard enclosure fittings include eight steel bar handles and
tour grade castors. A recessed removable connector panel on the
rear of the enclosure houses two EP4 connectors for input and enclosure
link, however a variety of different connection options including
Neutrik Speakon and XLR are available. Quake is at home in
any application - from the busiest nightclub to the largest stadium,
from drum & bass to heavy rock - and with either line array
or point source systems.
